I’ve caught myself wondering “WTF is wrong with you!?” about things I’m really into compared to the Premium Clark Griswold Rant Christmas Vacation Shirt general population. Having been on the receiving end of such a question many times now, I’ve been trying to shift my thinking to the less judgmental “wow, I can’t wait to show off why this means so much to me!” Some people just aren’t into cast iron, like at all. I have had this battle with my sister/brother-in-law. For Christmas, I gifted them a Lodge skillet that I refinished to my own standards for them to use. I personally use all Wagner/Griswold but didn’t have any pieces in my collection I was willing to part with besides some Lodge I had sitting around to be refinished.

Anyway, fast forward to Premium Clark Griswold Rant Christmas Vacation Shirt now (April), and they have still yet to use/try it. I just don’t understand it. It is literally a piece of cookware that will last your whole life, your kid’s lives, etc, but yet they are “too much work”. Oh well, I tried, but some people will just never come over to the dark side. I’m still a newbie with cast iron myself, but I spend far less time cleaning my CI than my nonstick. Like I’ll run a sponge and some water over it to get off the big stuff and then throwback on my stove and burn the rest off. No dishwashing, no hard scrubbing. The frying pan is just a pan, right? And its easier to clean! And nice and light so it’s easy to put away!
